Book review: Beartown

Some people and some books have that effect. so strong that when you read through them, they inspire you. they inspire to ease a bit, breathe a little more, inspire to live more and whine less and appreciate alot more.

Fredrick Backman's writings are one such kind. i was so tempted to read his books after reading "A man called Ove" that i picked up his "Beartown". although, i would not place beartown above "a man called ove", i loved the book thoroughly.

i wonder how Fredrick can create such strong characters, who is still in his thirtyish. its a story of a secluded cold town in the woods of Sweden, called Beartown. The author has thoroughly written how it feels to be a part of this town, the people and their work and the kind of sentiments people hold for a place after staying there for years.

All the characters are strongly depicted in the book, depth of characters is exasperating may it be the teens or the adults alike. Along with this, there is a huge database of characters that come and never leave. Its quiet too much for a normal novel ranging from the black jacket men of Beartown, ramona, sune, Peter, Maya, Leo, Kevin & his dad and mom.
