book review: the white tiger

Aravind Adiga : I had seen this book in the hands of a back bencher in my degree days in 2008. I always had an inclination to read books but never really invested my thoughts into it seriously until a few years now. Well, I got the kindle version of it and i was averted at the beginning for its anti national thoughts.

This book as a debut of Aravind is written very aptly. Its all about Balram Halwai who hails from a small village in india goes on to become enterpreneur. its just not that, it talks about the filth, about the poor and rich, about the helplessness of poor people and the injustice that happens with poor.

Its thought provoking. This simple story with his simple writing style can get you all worked up. He says this country has produced nothing but a rooster coop in its history of 10,000 years! this just shows how bad of an example it is to have not known anything about India while writing this sentence. there are many more statements like this ( may be he tried to make it sound funny but it didn't). He says Britishers were the oe

But it also hurts to see the reality through bare eyes like this and how money talks. The rich can do whatever they want and can get with it easily. The poor, even though when they can afford with their own blood and sweat can be cheated easily. It hurts to see how the people live lives under the bridges in metro cities and their lives doesn't matter at all.
