Weekend getaway to Gokarna

Not all trips start good. Some can go nasty and this is what happened with our weekend getaway to Gokarna. We have 50lt and 60lt trek bags which we pretty much carry everywhere around.
Friday night we got high and we packed our bag into 50lt bag. With a big smile I said to my husband that i am going to carry the bag down to cab and took the 60lt bag. We only realized we missed on all our beach clothes and toiletries after i started looking for our toiletry kit while the bus was already out of Bangalore. We initially cussed, fussed. It made me a little sad on the beach clothes I left back at home but nevertheless I'm not too much into clothes and it wasn't like a devastating thing. My husband lightens the mood always and he did this yet again. We laughed for almost half an hour making fun of it!

Day1

The next day we checked in into our beachside stay and had breakfast. We reached back to the city in auto for 200rs and hired honda activa for the rest of the two days. This way we could save alot of to and fro to hotel and to roam within the city. First half of the day we spent around 2k to get basic clothes for both of us on the streets. We had lunch in the cafe inside the stay and slept for a while.

The evening we mostly spent our time talking to the local fishermen on the shore, sprinting along the beaches as far as we could see and watching the sunset. We played in the little pools caused by the high tides and traced the crabs. When you have a great company, it doesn't matter which place you are at to have some fun. So we took our dinner to the beach and we slipped into late night talking and laughing with eachother. Love is indeed beautiful !

View from the room !

Serene beach view

Day1 sunset right infront of our room. What a view to cherish :)

Day2

We got up and started at 8 am to explore Yana and Vibhooti waterfalls. Those clean, smooth and fresh looking country roads took our hearts and breath away! We even spotted a huge black cobra lying on the sides of the road and that was a aha moment! We reached Vibhuti falls which was a 45km ride.  We have to walk around 2km to get to falls after parking our vehicles. After spending some time here we headed to Yana.

On the way to VIbhuti falls

a small walk to reach Vibhuti falls

Yana is a total beauty within itself. Two huge volcanic rock formations lying deep down the forests makes it more interesting. Vibhuti falls to Yana is 14km and google map doesn't show this route. Check with locals for details and also note that the last 3km stretch to reach Yana is very rugged. Yana lies at very low altitude and you keep going down and down till you reach Yana. Be careful with leeches during wet seasons.

Around the Yana caves !

From Yana we were back to Gokarna around 4 pm and strolled around the beaches. We did a long walk, watched the sunset and ate gobi. We shopped some local handmade artifacts, cashews and lobaan. We left at 8pm to get back to the grind !

Stay: Patang beach resort. Because it was on the day of Ayodhya verdict, the price was 1700rs for 2 days 1 night for 1 room.

The stay is great because lot of crowd is centered at the most well known beaches of Paradise beach, om beach dolphin point and Kudle beach. The seashores of Bhavikodla, ganga beach felt like a private pool to us!

Vehicle rental : Rs.500 for 2 days for Honda Activa

Food:Have it at the temples. Its tasty, your money goes to social work and it feels good to eat at temples!
