Book review : The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

First thing that I felt as I started reading the book is "Its weird, it's not normal" . Yes, its not a normal novel read where a story begins  and flows, described by a set of English words. But hands down, this is the best novel I have ever read !

So however weird and unconnected you feel, don't stop. keep reading because it gets interesting and you will starting connecting the dots backwards. Author has very often used scientific terms with explanations sometimes along with explaining some English words intermittently and you will start liking his style of writing as you keep reading.

The story is about a fifteen year old boy with "Asperger's" syndrome. The more pages you read, the more you start feeling the main character. While he is picturing the situations, he also writes in alot of information on scientific concepts/english words/formulas etc.( pg 158) For eg, at one instance where he explains that the main character Chris's school has set up a pond in front of their school and they have frogs in there, this is done to teach how to treat other living things with compassion. a normal author would picture the scene and move ahead with the story. But Mark Haddon (author) connects a formula derived by the scheantiest which gives the exact number of increase or decrease in the animal population. so yes, this is not a book for a normal read until you like the mention of science very often. You could still skip the scientific interpretation part of the book and read it as a normal novel but i am not sure how much of fun that would be.

The book is loaded with general information with a fantastic blend of a perfectly flowing story, with bits and pieces of situations which establishes the fact that no human ( character) is perfect. The beginning is not perfect and the ending is no perfect which perfectly make sense. This book feels so real. This is perfect book if you want to have a sneak peek into kids with syndrome, their way of thinking, behaving and decision making. I lvoed the nerdy touch the book has.
